Hurricane Ike

September 13-18, 2008: Welcome to Hurricane Ike. We weathered the storm at home, in our house just south of the Rice campus. Our street took on a small amount of water, but it all drained quickly. Afterwards, I wandered out to have a look around the city and see how we were doing. While coastal areas took quite a beating, the story for us was the wind. You can see all the wind damage: downed trees, signs, and the damage that can cause. This is quite different from Tropical Storm Allison, which blew through here back in 2001.
