Dan:

I have followed with interest material regarding your dispute with UM, as presented on one of our bulletin boards here at the U of I Graduate School of Library and Information Science.

I am a Yale Law School graduate with 13 years' experience in law as paralegal, law student, and lawyer.

Let me urge you, as you are considering how to proceed, to talk not only with lawyers but with people who have been individual parties to major litigation. If you decide to engage with UM, you will need to be prepared to have your life totally disrupted for several years, in an extremely unpleasant way. It is probably accurate to say that you will never be the same afterward, regardless of the outcome of the dispute.

As enormous as may be the financial costs of litigation, the personal costs dwarf them.

I wish you the best, whatever you decide.
