Graduate students are funded differently during the summer based on the research group they belong to. Different research groups have different views. Some students are encouraged to remain at Rice, where they are asked to contribute to the ongoing research projects. Other students may be encouraged to gain experience in industry. Financial support during the summer is not always guaranteed.
