B exam review procedure

It's part of the job of the Graduate Committee Rep to make sure that the B exams are reviewed by senior graduate students. This procedure should be followed:

  1. Every April 15 and every December 15 the graduate student representative on the graduate committee finds out the actual date of the next round of B-exams and the responsible faculty members by contacting the chair of the graduate committee. He/she then finds volunteers among the graduate students for each of the exams offered who are willing to do the actual reviewing. The graduate student representative on the graduate committee will then notify the actual writers and the volunteering reviewers of their match.

  2. The graduate student volunteering to review a particular exam then asks the writer of the exam to give him a copy and actually reviews it. He/she then communicates his suggestions to the exam writer and finally notifies the graduate student rep on the graduate committee of the completion of the reviewing.

  3. If problems occur with the exam writer not handing out a copy of the exam within a reasonable amount of time etc. then the reviewing grad student notifies the grad student rep on the graduate committee of this fact. The grad student rep on the graduate committee then contacts the chair of the graduate committee and the chair of the department and solicits their support in having the exam writer support the reviewing process.
