  Bar-Ilan Workshop on Real-Time and Fault-Tolerant Systems
  =========================================================
                  Sunday June 16, 1996
                  Bar-Ilan University
                  Ramat-Gan, Israel

The Computer Science Institute of Bar-Ilan University is organizing a
a one-day meeting for researchers and practitioners in the areas of
Real-Time and Fault-Tolerant Systems.

The main goal is to create an opportunity for the real-time folks both
from academia and from industry to present their current work and/or
general views, as well as meeting other researchers. We expect the
audience to be a general CS audience (including students).

  INVITED SPEAKERS

-- Dr. Hans Hanson, Dept. of Computer Systems, Uppsala, Sweden
"Guaranteeing Real-Time Traffic Through an ATM Network"

-- Dr. Suri Neeraj, Allied Signal Research - USA and Technion, Israel
"Software Integration for Dependable System Design"

-- Prof. Juanole Guy LAAS-CNRS, University Toulouse, France
"Stochastic Timed Petri Nets for Modeling
and Analysing Critical Time Distributed Systems"

-- Dr. Doug Jensen, Digital Equipment Corp. USA (not confirmed)
     "Embedded and Real-Time Systems"

At this stage the program is still not final. We take this opportunity
to solicit both your participation and possible presentation.

  TOPICS

In modern life real-time and safety-critical systems are becoming
increasingly widespread. One can find them in applications ranging from
multimedia and telecommunications to aircraft control and plant control.
The study of real-time and fault-tolerant systems involves many fields
of computer science: formal methods, algorithms (for scheduling and
more), operating systems, programming languages, fault-tolerance,
performance modeling, etc. We hope that this will be the first of many
meetings that will take place in the future.

The event is scheduled for Sunday June 16 at Bar-Ilan's university
campus, Economics Building Auditorium.

If such a meeting is of interest to you for any reason please send
e-mail to koren@bimacs.cs.biu.ac.il.
